Dear Oyster Bay Yogis,
Happy May! I always think, “April showers bring May flowers.” And there are so many ways we can embody Springtime in our practice. We’ll bloom like the lotus, turning our face to the sun and rising out of the muddy waters as we cultivate a more energetic, lighter practice during kapha season. Active pranayama practice, stronger standing postures, and heart opening can aid in energy balance. Our pose of the month, Bird of Paradise, is a tricky one, but let go of the final shape, have fun with it, and enjoy the benefits of a more vigorous practice.

Sutra of the Month
This sutra highlights the importance of discipline, commitment, and perseverance in the practice of Yoga. It reminds practitioners that Yoga is not a quick fix or a one-time event, but a gradual and continuous process that requires patience, dedication, and unwavering effort over an extended period of time. By practicing Yoga consistently and wholeheartedly, the practitioner can establish a firm and unshakable foundation for their spiritual journey.

I miss seeing your smiling faces each day at the studio! Although I’m not with you in-person, I remain committed to your experience at our special place. I, and the OBY team, value each of you: new members, long-time members, and those of you that just pop in to see us when you can. We truly appreciate your patronage, your support, and your deep connection to our community.
Because of our increasing costs, and in order to continue providing the best experience, and the best instruction, there will be some modest price increases becoming effective May 1st. Please read through thoroughly, and don’t hesitate to ask any questions - you can simply send us an email at info@oysterbayyoga.com.
If you are on a current OBY auto-renew membership, your membership will be automatically changed to the 2023 pricing, unless you reach out to us to cancel. We will have a new membership agreement for you to sign available at the front desk the next time you come in for class, so please come check in with us when you arrive.

We will resume regular hours on Tuesday, May 30th. Please note that Cruise Night & Car Show resumes on this Tuesday. There will be no parking allowed on Audrey Avenue starting at 4:00pm from May 30th - September 5th (weather permitting). Please allow extra time to find parking if you plan to attend evening classes on Tuesdays over the summer.

Full Moon Movement, Meditation & Gong Bath

Full Moon Gong Meditations allow us to honor the cyclical nature of the moon together. During the class there will be a seated meditation, incorporating mantra, pranayama and mudra, gentle movement to prepare the mind and body for the healing vibrations of the Gong.

Pajama Yoga

Bring your little ones (ages 4-10) dressed in their pajamas to a fun and interactive yoga class! Adult Pajama Yoga

Join us for a unique and relaxing yoga experience with Adult Pajama Yoga! In this class, you will learn a series of restorative poses designed to help you unwind and de-stress before bed, all while wearing your coziest pajamas.

Yin Yoga

Are you moving too fast?
Doing too many things at one time?
Too much "mind chatter" or just want to slow down?
Yin yoga can provide an antidote for this.
This class will guide you through a series of poses that are primarily done sitting and lying down. The poses are held for 2-5 minutes at a time to allow connective tissues (fascia, ligaments) to soften, lengthen and lubricate. A yin yoga practice compliments a yang practice and allows for a more balanced approach to life.
