If you’re not a member, we’re doing $5 drop-ins the week of 6/9-6/15. they’ll only be available to purchase starting 6/9, so set a calendar reminder now. You can purchase as many drop-ins as you’d like, but they’ll expire on 6/15, so check out the schedule in advance!

Sutra of the Month

 
 

Sutra 2.39 of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras states: "Aparigrahasthairye janmakathantā saṁbodhaḥ," which translates to, "When the yogi is firmly established in non-possessiveness (aparigraha), there arises knowledge of the why and how of past and future lives." This sutra emphasizes the importance of practicing aparigraha, which means non-possessiveness or non-greed. By letting go of attachments to material possessions and desires, a yogi can gain deeper insights into their life. This detachment fosters a clearer understanding of one's true nature and the underlying causes and effects of past and future experiences. In essence, when one is free from the clutter of possessions and the desire for more, the mind becomes more attuned to deeper spiritual truths and the greater journey of the soul. This understanding helps the yogi to see the interconnectedness of life and the continuity of their spiritual journey across lifetimes.

Restorative Yoga with Reiki Activation & Aromatherapy

Settle into a nourishing evening of relaxing restorative yoga postures, enhanced with reiki & aromatherapy. Restorative yoga is a blissful, slow down practice that relieves stress, anxiety, fatigue, while releasing mental/physical tension & chronic pain through the use of supporting props (bolsters, blankets & blocks). You will be guided into a peaceful state of stillness, while receiving reiki & aromatherapy. Reiki is a form of hands on healing through which energy is transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the recipient to encourage emotional & physical healing. The experience will be enhanced with gentle aromatherapy to promote a sense of relaxation & wellbeing. This deeply healing practice is appropriate for everyone & is essential for those with a fast paced life.

Doing too many things at one time?
Too much "mind chatter" or just want to slow down?

Yin yoga can provide an antidote for this.

This class will guide you through a series of poses that are primarily done sitting and lying down. The poses are held for 2-5 minutes at a time to allow connective tissues (fascia, ligaments) to soften, lengthen and lubricate. A yin yoga practice compliments a yang practice and allows for a more balanced approach to life.

One Pose at a Time: A Morgan Wallen Tribute

The title is a nod to Morgan Wallen’s album “One Thing At A time”. We will flow mindfully to Morgan Wallen’s music with a few other artists mixed in as well. We will take it pose by pose to really learn and integrate the asanas. 

 I was never a country music fan until my daughter introduced me to Morgan Wallen a few years ago. His roots are in country but songs cross over to mainstream music and he’s even collaborated with hip hop artists and EDM musicians.

After a visit to Nashville, my eyes and ears were opened to some of the most naturally talented vocalists and musicians in the world. The music in Nashville ranges from country to rock and pop and more. Musicians come from all over the country to Nashville to hone their craft and make it in the music industry.

Alzheimer's Association's The Longest Day Donation Class

Join us for a special donation-based class at Oyster Bay Yoga, where we're coming together to support Alzheimer's Association's The Longest Day fundraiser, coinciding with the Summer Solstice and International Yoga Day on June 21st. This class is open to all levels, and all proceeds will go towards this important cause. Led by Peggy Adair, this class offers an opportunity to practice yoga while making a positive impact in the fight against Alzheimer's disease. Come flow with us and contribute to a meaningful cause.
